Background
The devastating effect of insolvencies on the employment relationship and the shortcomings of current legislations necessitated the need for education of union Officials and Shop stewards. On invitation of COSATU, workshops were conducted to COSATU and their affiliated trade unions. Almost 300 Union Officials have attended our workshops. Mayibuye is the first ever Union driven insolvency entity.
Launch of Mayibuye Liquidators Free State
Upon request of various trade unions, Mayibuye Liquidators & Business Rescue Consultants was formed. The venture was made possible after a merge by David Maimane and Tertius Basson. David was in charge of Mayibuye, Johannesburg offices and Tertius Basson of Mayibuye's Pretoria offices. The aim and objective of Mayibuye Liquidators & Business Rescue Consultants is to place trade unions in a position to nominate Liquidators who knows and understand the dynamics of trade unionism. Mayibuye is the first liquidation entity ever who has liquidators that are actively involved in trade unionism. Mayibuye version is to introduce where possible the "rescue culture" in South Africa.
